President Obama Blames Congress For Credit Rating Drop

The White House defended the President’s current fundraising trip to Manhattan despite the fact that the Commander in Chief was attending glitzy events held by wealthy contributors in the midst of significant economic turmoil, The Washington Times reported.
Prior to heading to New York City, the President took a trip to a Michigan-based company to speak about the current state of the nation, an opportunity to divert the blame on the country’s current problems, reported the newspaper.
“There is nothing wrong with our country. There is something wrong with our politics,” President Barack Obama said in a lecture aimed at lawmakers. “This downgrade that you’ve been reading about could have been entirely avoided if there had been a willingness to compromise in Congress.”
Obama also addressed the issue of calling Congress back into session, as he noted that the American public wouldn’t gain anything from any more political stalemates that may occur if the ruling body were convened, according to The Los Angeles Times.
The President also spoke to the notion of Republicans in Congress trying to block efforts to boost the economy, using the speech as a way to try and gain support from the workers that were present, the newspaper reported.
